Chocolate Bread Pudding

- 2 (2 oz.) sq. semi-sweet chocolate
- 1/2 c. light cream
- 1 egg
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 4 slices day-old bread, crusts off and cubed (about 3 c.)
- confectioners sugar or whipped cream (optional)
Directions

1In saucepan, melt chocolate, remove from heat and stir in cream until smooth; set aside.

2In a large bowl, beat egg; add sugar, milk, vanilla and salt.

3Mix well.

4Stir in chocolate mixture; add bread and toss.

5Let stand 15 minutes.

6Spoon into greased 2-cup souffle dishes.

7Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes. Top with confectioners sugar or whipped cream.
