- 1 1/2 c. hot water
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 c. Crisco
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Mix cocoa with hot water; set aside.

2Blend flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder; set aside.

3With electric mixer, beat Crisco, sugar, eggs and vanilla; add set-aside ingredients. Stir well.

4Place batter in 9 x 13-inch cake pan and bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.
