  • 3/4 c. cocoa
  • 1 1/2 c. hot water
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 c. Crisco
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Mix cocoa with hot water; set aside.

    Blend flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder; set aside.

    With electric mixer, beat Crisco, sugar, eggs and vanilla; add set-aside ingredients. Stir well.

    Place batter in 9 x 13-inch cake pan and bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.
