- 2 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
- 2 sq. chocolate, melted
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
Directions

1Sift together flour, sugar, soda and salt.

2Add shortening, vanilla and 1 cup sour milk.

3Beat 2 minutes with mixer, or 150 strokes.

4Add melted chocolate, eggs and 1/2 cup sour milk.

5Beat 2 minutes.

6Pour into two 8 or 9-inch layer pans.

7Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.
