  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 3 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda

Directions

    Combine sugar and flour in large mixing bowl.

    Place margarine, cocoa and water in saucepan and boil.

    When these ingredients reach boiling, add to flour and sugar mix, stirring well.

    Add eggs, buttermilk, soda and vanilla.

    Bake at 400° in 9 x 13-inch greased and floured pan for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Pour icing over hot cake.
