- 4 sq. unsweetened chocolate or 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. black coffee
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. sour milk or 1/2 c. sweet milk with 1/2 tsp. vinegar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
Directions

1Heat chocolate or cocoa, butter and black coffee together in medium to large saucepan.

2Remove from fire.

3Dump in sugar and stir until smooth.

4Add flour, baking powder, soda and salt.

5Add sour milk or sweet milk with vinegar added and vanilla.

6Stir in eggs, one at a time, until thoroughly mixed.

7Bake at 350° for 25 to 28 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

8Cool 5 to 10 minutes before removing from pans.

9Frost as desired.

10Makes three 8-inch or two 9-inch layers or 1 large sheet cake.
