- 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 3 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 3 unbeaten eggs
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 c. boiling water
Directions

1Sift together flour, cocoa and salt; set aside.

2Add sugar gradually to Crisco, creaming well.

3Blend in the unbeaten eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

4Combine soda with milk; add gradually to creamed mixture, beating well.

5Add dry ingredients all at once.

6Mix until well blended.

7Stir in boiling water until blended.

8Bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan in 350° oven for 35 to 40 minutes (15 minutes for cupcakes).

9Do not overbake as this is a moist cake.
