  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 5 whole eggs
  • 2 sq. bitter chocolate
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. flour, sifted

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Add melted chocolate.

    Combine milk, soda and vanilla; add to creamed mixture alternately with flour.

    Bake at 375° for 25 to 30 minutes in round prepared pans or 45 minutes in 9 x 13-inch pan.
