- 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 1 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, undrained
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c. cocoa
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cream butter.

2Add sugar; beat until fluffy.

3Add egg; beat. Drain cherries (save juice).

4Slice and set aside.

5Combine flour, cocoa, soda and salt.

6Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk and cherry juice.

7Mix well.

8Fold in vanilla, pecans and cherries.

9Use 9-inch tube pan.

10Bake at 350° for 50 minutes. Cool.

11Frost with cream cheese frosting.
