  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar white
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups flour, all-purpose
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips up to 2 cups

    Preheat oven to 375F (190C).

    Mix shorting, sugars, eggs and vanilla in a bowl.

    Mix flour, soda and salt in another bowl.

    Mix wet ingredients and dry ingredients, then stir in chocolate chips.

    Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased baking sheets.

    Bake 10 to 12 minutes.

    Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes.

    Remove cookies from pans onto wire rack and let cool completely.

    Store in air-tight container.
