  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 lb. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 pkg. melted chocolate
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/4 c. plain flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. boiling water

    Cream margarine and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.

    Add chocolate and blend.

    Add sifted flour, soda and salt alternately with buttermilk.

    Stir in vanilla and water.

    Bake in three (9-inch) pans at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes.
