Chocolate Cream Pie

- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 sq. unsweetened chocolate or 1/2 c. cocoa
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 c. half and half
- 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Mix in saucepan the sugar, cornstarch, salt and milk.

2Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.

3Boil 1 minute.

4Remove from heat.

5Gradually stir in egg yolks.

6Boil 1 more minute.

7Pour into baked pie shell.

8Spread meringue on top of pie.

9Bake until brown at 400° (8 to 10 minutes).

10Cool to room temperature.

11Makes one 9-inch pie.
