- 1/4 C. baking cocoa
- 1 1/2 C. cake flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 C. shortening
- 1 C. sugar
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1/2 C. milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- Vanilla ice cream
- Chocolate sauce
- Fresh raspberries
Directions

1Combine cocoa, flour, baking powder and salt.

2Set aside.

3In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.

4Add egg yolks.

5Mix well.

6Add dry ingredients alternately with the milk. Mix until dry ingredients are moistened.

7Stir in vanilla.

8Beat egg whites until stiff and gently fold into the batter.

9Preheat waffle maker and bake waffles according to manufacturer's directions.

10Serve waffles warm or room temperature with ice cream, warmed chocolate sauce and fresh raspberries.
