- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 cocoa
- 1/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cream shortening; add sugar gradually and continue creaming until mixture is light and fluffy.

2Add egg and mix well.

3Sift flour with salt and baking powder.

4Mix cocoa with dry ingredients. Add alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.

5Blend in vanilla.

6Drop dough onto slightly rounded teaspoon, one at a time onto lightly greased baking sheet about an inch apart.

7Bake in preheated oven at 350° until lightly browned, about 15 to 20 minutes.

8Remove to cooling rack immediately.

9Makes about 70 cookies.
