Chocolate Icing

Ingredients

  • 1 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1/4 c. chocolate cocoa
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Directions

    Mix cocoa and sugar.

    Add milk and butter (do not melt butter).

    Stir together.

    Heat to boil in thick boiler.

    Boil for 4 1/2 minutes.

    Do not stir after it starts boiling.

    Maintain a rolling boil, but do not burn.

    Place in sink of cold water; add flavoring.

    Stir until icing begins to thicken.

    Spread on layers. If icing becomes too thick, add a little water.

    Will ice four layers.
