- 4 ounces chocolate (semi-sweet) chopped
- 3/4 cup butter melted, cooled
- 1 1/4 cups cake flour sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 23 cup sugar
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350F (180C).

2Butter 30 madeleine molds.

3Melt chocolate in top of double boiler set over hot water.

4Stir in butter.

5Mix together flour, baking powder and salt.

6Beat eggs in large bowl of electric mixer until light and lemon colored; add vanilla.

7Gradually add sugar, beating constantly at high speed 5 minutes.

8Reduce speed to medium and beat until mixture has quadrupled in volume, about 5 minutes.

9Gently fold in flour mixture, then chocolate.

10Place 1 tablespoon batter in center of each mold.

11Bake exactly 12 minutes.

12Cool on rack.

13Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
