Chocolate Pecan Pie

- 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
- 1/3 c. butter
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. dark Karo syrup
- 1 1/4 c. pecans
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell (deep dish)
- whipped cream for garnish
Directions

1Melt chocolate with butter in the top of a double boiler. Remove from heat; cool slightly.

2Combine eggs, sugar, salt and syrup in a mixing bowl.

3Beat to blend.

4Add cooled chocolate and butter mixture.

5Beat to blend.

6Place pecans in the bottom of the pie shell.

7Pour egg mixture over pecans.

8Bake in preheated 350° oven 40 to 50 minutes.

9The top should be soft and the center not fully set when shaken.

10Serve with whipped cream.
