  • 3/4 c. cocoa
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. hot water
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 4 Tbsp. cornstarch or flour
  • pinch of salt

    Separate eggs.

    Beat yolks well.

    Mix cocoa and sugar in saucepan.

    Add hot water, butter and eggs.

    Dissolve cornstarch in a little water.

    Mix and stir.

    Cook over medium heat until thick. Pour in cooked pastry pie shell.

    Top with meringue.
