  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. solid Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 3 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • dash of salt

Directions

    Set out all ingredients an hour before mixing.

    Cream butter or margarine, Crisco and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

    Add cocoa.

    Add flour and milk alternately, ending with flour.

    Add salt and vanilla.

    Beat well.

    Pour batter into a tube pan of which only the bottom has been greased. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 35 minutes.
