Chocolate Pound Cake

  • 1 c. butter
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 c. flour, sifted 2 times
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa (may be heaping up)
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Directions

    Cream together butter and shortening.

    Add sugar and cream. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each one.

    Add vanilla. Sift all dry ingredients together.

    Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to creamed mixture.

    Bake in 10-inch tube pan at 325° for 80 minutes or until knife comes out clean.

    Let cool 5 minutes before turning out of pan.
