- 2 sticks butter
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. plain flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 5 whole eggs
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. cocoa
Directions

1Cream butter, sugar and Crisco.

2Sift flour once and measure. Sift measured flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder together.

3Add eggs one at a time to creamed mixture.

4Add flour alternating with milk.

5Add vanilla.

6Pour in a greased and floured tube pan.

7Cook 1 1/4 hours at 325°.

8Turn off oven and let stand 10 to 15 minutes.

9Frost cake, if desired.
