- 2 sticks (1/2 lb.) butter
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 5 Tbsp. cocoa
- 5 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Grease and flour 10-inch tube pan.

2Cream butter, shortening and sugar.

3Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

4Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and cocoa. Add alternately with the milk, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla and mix well.

5Bake at 350° for about an hour.

6Cool in pan on cake rack for 5 minutes before removing from pan.

7It may take a little longer than 1 hour to bake.
