Chocolate Pound Cake

- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. butter flavor
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 pkg. sweet cooking chocolate
Directions

1Cream sugar and shortening.

2Add eggs, flavors and buttermilk. Sift together flour, soda and salt; mix well.

3Add melted chocolate (melt in warm oven or double boiler).

4Blend well together.

5Pour into 9-inch stem pan that has been well greased and floured.

6Bake in 300° oven for 1 1/2 hours.

7Test with toothpick; if done, toothpick will come out clean (from cake center).

8Put cake under tight fitting cake cover while still hot. Leave covered until cool.
