Chocolate Pound Cake

  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco (add chocolate here)
  • 3 c. sugar (before adding eggs)
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 (16 oz.) can chocolate syrup
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Start in cold oven.

    Do not open door for 1 hour.

    Cream butter and Crisco and add chocolate syrup, then add sugar and blend.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Sift flour and baking powder together.

    Add flour and milk to cream mixture alternately, beginning and ending with flour.

    Add vanilla.

    Bake in a tube pan, greased and floured for 1 hour and 30 minutes at 325°.
