- 1/2 lb. butter
- 1/2 c. Crisco (add chocolate here)
- 3 c. sugar (before adding eggs)
- 5 eggs
- 3 c. plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
- 1 (16 oz.) can chocolate syrup
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Start in cold oven.

2Do not open door for 1 hour.

3Cream butter and Crisco and add chocolate syrup, then add sugar and blend.

4Add eggs, one at a time.

5Sift flour and baking powder together.

6Add flour and milk to cream mixture alternately, beginning and ending with flour.

7Add vanilla.

8Bake in a tube pan, greased and floured for 1 hour and 30 minutes at 325°.
