  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

    Cream shortening at low speed until light.

    Add sugar & cream at medium spped until the consistency of whipped cream.

    Beat in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Sift flour, cocoa, salt & baking powder together.

    Add milk & dry ingredients alternately, beating thoroughly.

    Bake in greased tube pan at 350 until done, about 1 1/2 hours.
