- 1 1/2 c. butter, softened
- 3 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 (8 oz.) carton sour cream
- 1 c. boiling water
- 2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cream butter gradually.

2Add sugar.

3Beat well.

4Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

5Combine flour, cocoa, soda and salt.

6Add to creamed mixture, alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with flour mixture.

7Mix well after each addition.

8Add boiling water and mix well.

9Stir in vanilla.

10Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until cake tests done. Cool.
