Chocolate Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. sour milk (1 1/2 c. sweet milk with 1 1/2 Tbsp. vinegar)

Directions

    Cream butter, sugar and vanilla on medium speed for 3 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time.

    Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with milk.

    Grease and flour a tube pan.

    Bake at 325° for 1 hour 20 minutes.

    Cool 10 minutes before removing from the pan.

    When cool, drizzle with a mixture of 1 cup confectioners sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla or 1 teaspoon rum and 2 to 3 tablespoons hot water.

    (Add water 1 tablespoon at a time until right consistency.)
