Ingredients
- 3/4 lb. veal steak
- 3/4 lb. lean pork
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 c. onion, sliced
- 3 c. celery, cut in diagonal strips
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 (28 oz.) can Chinese vegetables
- 2 bouillon cubes
- 4 oz. can mushrooms
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp. dark molasses
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Cut meat into thin strips; brown lightly in oil.

2Add onion, water and seasonings (including bouillon cubes).

3Cover tightly and simmer 20 minutes or until meat is almost tender.

4Add celery, bean sprouts and mushrooms. Cook 3 minutes, covered tightly.

5Make paste of cornstarch and water.

6Stir into meat and vegetable mixture.

7Continue to stir gently until mixture is thickened, about 2 minutes.

8Serve on Chinese noodles.

9Yield: 8 servings. Carbohydrate 15 g, protein 15 g, fat 16 g, calories 264.
