  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. apple, chopped
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/4 c. figs, chopped
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 c. citron, sliced
  • 1/4 c. candied cherries, quartered
  • 1 Tbsp. candied orange peel, chopped
  • 1/4 c. almonds, blanched and chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • soda

Directions

    Combine apple, butter, molasses, eggs and milk.

    Sift flour and mix with fruit and nuts.

    Combine remaining flour, baking powder, salt, soda and spices.

    Sift again.

    Add to molasses mixture.

    Add fruit.

    Turn into well-greased molds, filling them 2/3 full.

    Cover tightly.

    Steam 3 hours.
