- 7 lb. cucumbers
- 1 c. pickling salt
- 1 gal. water
- 1 c. vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. alum
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. vinegar
- whole mix pickle spices tied in bag
Directions

1Wash cucumbers in cold water and slice 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Soak for 3 days in salt brine strong enough to hold an egg (pickling salt and 1 gallon water).

2Pour off salt water, then soak for 3 days in clear water, changing water every day.

3Remove from water; put in kettle and add vinegar, alum and enough hot water to cover.

4Simmer for 1 hour; gently stir several times.

5Drain.
