Ingredients

  • 2 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

Directions

    Combine all ingredients in a heavy saucepan and bring to a boil.

    Reduce the heat and simmer the sauce for 5 minutes.

    Let cool to room temperature.

    Transfer to a spray bottle and use right away or refrigerate.

    Use within 1 or 2 days of making.

    *This recipe makes about 4 1/2 cups which should be enough for about 4 pounds of meat.

    **If you don't want to use a spray bottle, you can use a basting brush or mop.

    ***This tastes great on roasted or smoked meat, and is recommended for use on chicken or ribs.
