Ingredients

  • 3 gal. cucumbers, peeled and seeded
  • 8 1/2 qt. water
  • 2 c. lime
  • 1 c. vinegar
  • 1/2 oz. red food color
  • 1 tsp. alum

Directions

    Soak cucumbers, water and lime for 24 hours, then drain and soak in ice cold water for 3 hours.

    Drain again.

    Add cucumbers and add water to cover top.

    Heat and simmer for 5 minutes.

    Soak for 2 hours.

    Drain.

    Throw away mixture.
