- 5 lb. white flour
- 3 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 small can shortening
- 5 lb. sugar
- 1 1/2 qt. warm water
- cinnamon
- 1 lb. butter
- salt
Directions

1Put flour into large pan; form it outward to the edge so as to make it look like a bowl.

2Dissolve dry yeast in 3/4 cup warm water (deduct warm water amount from total liquid in the recipe).

3Melt 5 tablespoons shortening in separate pan.

4Pour 1 1/2 quarts warm water in bowl, less that used in yeast.

5Add 1/2 cup sugar.

6Mix until dissolved; add salt until it no longer tastes sweet.

7Pour the water into the pan of flour.

8Pour in the melted shortening. Add the dissolved yeast.

9With your hand, start to mix the flour. Mix until sticky.

10You will have to add more flour until it is no longer sticky.
