Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 c. flour
- 1 egg
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2Mix together scalded milk, sugar, shortening and salt; let cool.

3Add to milk mixture 1 1/2 cups flour and egg; beat well.

4Add softened yeast mixture and 1 1/2 cups flour to make soft dough.

5Cover and let rise 10 minutes. Knead last cup of flour in for 5 minutes.

6Put in a greased bowl (covered) and let rise until doubled.

7Punch down and fold from side to side.

8Let rise a second time until doubled.

9Make into a ball.

10Let stand, covered, for 10 minutes.

11Pat out to remove air.
