- 4 c. granulated sugar
- 4 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. evaporated milk
- 3/4 stick butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Combine sugar and cocoa in a saucepan.

2Stir in both milk and butter.

3Cook over medium heat; stir constantly until mixture begins to bubble.

4Cover.

5Cook for 3 minutes without stirring. Uncover and stir gently.

6Continue cooking; stir occasionally until candy thermometer registers 236° or until a small amount of candy dropped in cold water forms a soft ball.

7Remove from heat and let cool for 15 minutes.

8Add vanilla.

9Beat candy until creamy and thick.

10Pour into a buttered 9-inch square pan.

11When cool and firm, cut into 1 1/2-inch squares.

12Yields 36 squares.
