  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. butter (2 sticks)
  • 1/2 c. Crisco or 1 stick margarine
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 c. milk

Directions

    Sift together flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder. Cream sugar, margarine and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Alternate flour mixture with milk. Add vanilla. Pour in greased and floured steeple pan and bake 1 hour at 325° or 350°. Usually takes a little longer!
