  • 4 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. coconut
  • 1/2 c. warm milk

Directions

    Grate coconut.

    Dissolve yeast in warm water.

    Cream sugar and shortening.

    Add vanilla.

    Add coconut.

    Add dry ingredients with 2 parts milk.

    Knead 5 minutes.

    Cover; let double in size.

    Shape and place in greased pan.

    Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until inserted knife comes out clean.
