  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 5 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 egg yolks plus 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Stir together flour, sugar and salt.

    Add shortening and 1 cup milk and beat 2 minutes at medium speed.

    Stir in baking powder. Add eggs and remaining milk and vanilla.

    Pour in 3 paper-lined 10-inch cake pans and bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
