- 2 1/4 c. sifted self-rising flour
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. soft shortening
- 1 c. sweet milk
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla or 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 almond
- 3 eggs (save 2 whites for icing)
Directions

1Sift together flour and sugar.

2Add shortening and 1/2 of milk; beat for 2 minutes.

3Add remaining milk, flavoring and unbeaten eggs.

4Beat another 2 minutes.

5Pour into 2 layer cake pans which have been greased and floured.

6Bake for 30 minutes at 325°.

7Cool and frost.
