- 3/4 c. butter
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 3 c. flour
- 3/4 c. milk
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon
Directions

1Cream the butter and sugar.

2Add 2 whole eggs.

3Separate the other two and add the yolks.

4Save the 2 whites for the icing. Beat in well. Sift flour, salt and baking powder.

5Add alternately with milk. Beat with electric mixer until smooth. Bake in four 8-inch greased and floured layer pans at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched with fingers. Frost with icing or may use whipped cream and coconut.
