- 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 1/3 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. white sugar
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. quick cooking oats
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 2 c. coconut
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Combine shortening, sugars, beaten eggs and flavoring; blend well.

2Add sifted dry ingredients, rolled oats, nuts and coconut. This is a stiff batter.

3Roll 1 teaspoon dough about the size of a walnut; place on oiled cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart.

4Press slightly with bottom of a glass.

5May be trimmed with gumdrops or colored sugar.

6Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 350° until slightly browned.
