Coconut Pompons

  • 1 c. margarine or butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. flour (do not sift)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • shredded coconut
  • walnut or pecan pieces
  • candied cherries, halved

Directions

    Preheat oven to 325°.

    Cream butter or margarine, sugar and vanilla, then add flour and salt.

    (Can be refrigerated for easier handling.)

    Shape dough around piece of nut or half a cherry to form 1-inch balls.

    Roll in shredded coconut.

    Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 18 minutes.
