  • 1 1/2 c. shortening (1 c. Crisco and 1 stick butter)
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 c. sweet milk (Borden sweetened condensed milk)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. coconut flavoring
  • 3 c. cake flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. coconut

    Cream shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

    Add milk and flavoring; mix.

    Add dry ingredients, which have been sifted together; mix well.

    Fold in coconut.

    Put batter in large tube pan.

    Bake at 300° for 1 1/2 hours.
