Ingredients
- 1-1/4 cups scalded milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cake yeast
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
- 1 cup seeded raisins
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Directions

1Add scalded milk to sugar, salt and shortening.

2Cool to lukewarm, then add cake of yeast.

3Add eggs, flour, cinnamon, raisins and nuts.

4Knead lightly on floured board, place in a greased bowl and let raise double, approx. 2 hrs.

5Punch down and let raise for 1 hour.

6Make dough into 2 braids and let raise double again.

7Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Spread with blended powdered sugar and brown sugar icing while hot.
