- 2/3 c. melted shortening
- 1 box light brown sugar
- 2 3/4 c. plain flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3 eggs
- 1 pkg. chocolate chips (small)
- 1 c. nuts (pecans)
Directions

1Mix sugar, flour, salt and baking powder into a large mixing bowl.

2Add shortening, vanilla and eggs.

3Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon; then add chocolate chips and nuts.

4Pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.

5Bake 30 minutes at 350°.

6Let cool and cut into 2-inch squares.
