- 2/3 c. melted shortening
- 2 1/4 c. light brown sugar (1 lb.)
- 3 eggs
- 2 2/3 c. sifted flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate bits
Directions

1In a saucepan, melt shortening.

2Stir in brown sugar.

3Mix well.

4Let stand until slightly cool.

5Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

6Add flour, baking powder and salt.

7Stir in nuts and chocolate bits.

8Pour into greased and floured 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan.

9Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
