- 2/3 c. shortening
- 1 box brown sugar (2 1/4 c.)
- 3 eggs
- 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.

2Sift dry ingredients together and add.

3Add nuts and chocolate chips.

4Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes in a pan, 10 1/4 x 15 1/4-inch or bake for 35 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch pan. The smaller pan will make thicker bars.
