  • 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. shortening or oleo
  • 1 lb. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 (6 oz.) chocolate chips or butterscotch chips

Directions

    Mix flour, salt and baking powder.

    Melt shortening with sugar and cool before mixing with flour mixture.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Add vanilla, chips and nuts.

    Bake in a greased and floured cake pan (9 x 13-inch) at 350° for 35 minutes.

    Cut into squares.
