  • 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. shortening
  • 1 lb. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Sift together sifted flour, baking powder and salt.

    Melt shortening and add brown sugar.

    Let cool slightly before beating in eggs, one at a time.

    Add sifted mixture, then nuts, chocolate chips and vanilla. Blend well.

    Pour into greased pan about 9 x 13-inch.

    Bake at 350° until done.

    Cool, cut into squares.
