- 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 3 eggs
- 2 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 pkg. chocolate bits
Directions

1Mix dry ingredients.

2Melt shortening and add brown sugar; stir until mixed.

3Cool.

4Add eggs to shortening and sugar, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

5Add dry ingredients, then nuts and chocolate bits.

6Bake in greased pan (10 x 15 x 1/2-inch) at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

7Cut when almost cool.
