  • 1/2 c. cooked beans (red, black or garbanzo)
  • 1 c. rice (long grain)
  • 1/2 green pepper
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 piece of ham, cubed
  • 1/2 c. tomato sauce
  • salt and pepper

Directions

    If dry beans, soak overnight and cook until soft the next day. Saute ingredients.

    Add beans, tomato sauce, etc.

    Mix well and add water to make 2 or more cups of liquid.

    Bring to a boil; add rice. When rice surfaces, turn off heat.

    Cover until done, 1/2 hour. Depending on your stove, you may need to put it on simmer.

    Mine cooks with the heat only.
